Springing into March

As March begins, the sun streaming in the window is a double edged sword. On the one hand we are relieved to think that winter is almost over, on the other hand the house looks tired and a little bit grubby! It’s time to spring clean, pack away winter things and get some brighter colours into the home.

At our fairs and on our stand at Station Mill www.stationmill.com we now have a great range of things for outside too. Already, vintage cast iron tables and chairs, weathered stone ornaments and victorian flower pots are being snapped up, a clear sign it won’t be too long before we are sitting in the garden.

We had a great day at Chipping Sodbury at the Vintage Fashion and Textile Fair last month. If you haven’t been there before it really is worth a visit, with a wonderful selection of vintage stalls and lovely teas. A note for your diary, the next fair there is Saturday 26th May where we will have our usual selection of vintage homewares.

So, this month do come and see us to find some interesting things for spring and, if there’s anything in particular you are looking for, please get in touch.

Freezing February

January was so mild I was starting to think there was no point in displaying any more winter stock, we would just leapfrog into Spring. Thankfully February has arrived and brought with it freezing temperatures so the winter woollies are back on and the eiderdowns and thick tartan rugs back out!

This month we’re busy with buying trips, stocking up Station Mill and planning for the Vintage Textile Fair at Chipping Sodbury on Sunday 25th. If you are interested in textiles, or indeed vintage fashion, then get along to the town hall and snap up something out of the ordinary. We will have some wonderful fabrics, a great selection of quilts, the sweetest embroidered pictures, and some fascinating bits and bobs for the crafter. More details of the fair at http://www.vintageandhandmade.co.uk/

If there’s anything in particular you are looking for, email in advance and we can see if we can source it for you.

Hope to see you this month, in the meantime, keep warm!

Happy New Year

2012, Olympic year, is here at last,  bringing lots of new opportunities for us at Vintage Homewares. This year we will be doing our usual Fairs as well as adding some new venues too- more news of that in the months ahead.

We have been really pleased with our space at the Station Mill Antiques Centre in Chipping Norton and are now starting to source content for there for the Spring. We have a few buying trips to France planned as well as our usual trips to Scotland, so we’re hoping to have some interesting pieces of furniture as well as smaller decorative items coming in soon.

Our next Fair will be the Vintage and Handmade Fashion and Textile Fair at Chipping Sodbury on 25th February. I’ll post details of the kind of stock we’ll have there at the beginning of February.

Until then, wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2012!

December news

It’s been a busy start to the month with Fairs in London and Gloucestershire. We’ve met so many people looking for that Christmas gift with a difference, so, if you too are still searching for some great vintage presents then come along and see us at Homeworks in London on Sunday 11th at the Salusbury School Farmers Market Queens Park NW6 from 10am until 2pm, or if you are in Surrey, at the Farnham Maltings Christmas Fair on Tuesday December 13 from 4pm until 10pm. Details at www.farnhammaltings.com

Also, for a great day out do come along to Station Mill Antiques Centre in Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire which is open seven days a week. Details at www.stationmill.com There’s great range of dealers (I’m upstairs) and a lovely tearoom.

So, as an alternative to all the hordes in the shops, come along and see us at one of our Christmas sales. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

November news

Yesterday was our first day at the Station Mill Antiques Centre in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire and I was really pleased to see our first lot of stock in situ. I know many of you do like browsing and buying in these centres and, over the years, I have visited quite a few but, I think, none quite as interesting as Station Mill. It really does have a good range of stalls, from the quirky to the traditional, and is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

I won’t be there to meet you as all the selling is done by the Mill’s staff, but if you do visit then please ask where my stall is, it’s unit 62 on the first floor. For more information see their website www.stationmill.com

Our fairs carry on too and are now hotting up in the run up to Christmas. We will be at the Paradise pub on Chamberlayne Road, Kensal Green for the Kensal Flea on Saturday 12 November from 12- 5.30pm

Flea news is on Facebook at  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=242695435748621

And, later on this month, on Sunday 27 November, I will be at Salusbury School for the first of three Homeworks sales, in the school hall next to the Farmers Market. So you will have lots of opportunities to find that Christmas present with a difference!

Looking forward to catching up with you this month in person.

Oxfordshire venue

I just wanted to let you know that from Tuesday 1st November I will have a space in the lovely Station Mill Antiques Centre, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire OX7 5HX. If you haven’t visited the centre before then it really is worth dropping in for a browse. I will be upstairs on the right, in unit 62. www.stationmill.com

There’s also a tearoom with the most delicious cakes. Now you really have no excuse not to visit.

And don’t forget that we are at Village Vintage www.village-vintage.co.uk in Cuckfield on Saturday 29 October. And tea and cakes also feature there!

Hope to see you soon.

Sunny October

The lemonade set and knickerbocker glory glasses are back out as we sit in the garden in the 86 degree heat! Lovely as this sunny spell is though, part of me is hoping for some chilly autumnal weather so that I can get all those cosy blankets and quilts I see piled up in front of me out and into their new homes.

I’ll be bringing more French things across too for our fairs this month which are Kempton on 25th October, followed by Village Vintage in Cuckfield in Sussex (a new one to us but one we hear is well worth a visit) on Saturday 29th October. You’ll find directions and details at www.village-vintage.co.uk

Hoping to see you later this month whatever the weather!

September news

Yesterday was Queens Park Day and, despite awful weather predictions earlier in the week,  it stayed dry all day and we had a great turn out. It was lovely to meet so many people from last year, and see their children growing up. Thanks for all your kind comments about our stand, we were sorry to part with such gorgeous things but so glad they found such good homes!

If you live locally we’ve a few fairs lined up in the Queens Park area coming up to Christmas so please keep looking at our Fairs page to find out where we will be selling.

This month we are at Kempton on Tuesday 13th and 27th, hope to see some of you there.

August

We are quiet on the selling front this month with only one fair, Kempton, on Tuesday 9th. For those of you looking for china, we do have quite a few pretty sets so it’s worth coming early (it opens at 0630) if you want to have a selection to choose from.

After that we’ll be busy buying in France and, I’m sure, will bring back some fascinating finds. I will be looking for those pretty French textiles that seem to be getting thin on the ground here as well as some useful pieces of furniture. I will try and put some pictures up later on in the month so that you can see just exactly what I’ve discovered.

In the meantime, if you are off on holiday, wherever you are in the world have a wonderful time exploring those vintage markets .

July news

It was great to see so many of you at the Barnes Fair.

As ever it was a fantastic day, the weather was kind and we enjoyed meeting some new customers as well as catching up with our regulars.

Next this month we are at Kempton on the 26th (and again on August 9th) before we have a break to get out and about and source new stock for the autumn.

Many of you were asking about our stall at Queens Park Day and if you like Barnes Fair you will certainly like this! It’s on Sunday 11 September from around noon in Queens Park, London NW6 with the nearest tube being Queens Park on the Bakerloo Line. If you haven’t been before it is really worth coming along as there are some great stalls, fabulous food (with the hog roast being particularly delicious)  as well as lots to see and do for both children and grown ups.  We’ll have a good selection of quilts, table and bed linens, handy pieces of furniture, china, glassware, pictures and some very cute children’s things.

You will recognise us by our blue gazebo and black and white checked flooring so, if you can make it, please do pop by and say hi.
