French Finds 3Finally the sun is trying to peak through and our thoughts are turning to Spring, although the weather doesn’t seem to know this quite yet! Already this month however we have been sourcing in France for our upcoming fairs and have some gorgeous finds, particularly a great selection of some very pretty fabrics, wonderful monogrammed linens and enamelware.

French Finds 2This month we will be at Kempton on the 30th, but don’t forget you can always see a selection of our stock at Station Mill in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. And remember if there is anything in particular you are looking for do email and we’ll try to help.

March news

SpringYou will have been wondering if we have been in hibernation as I haven’t posted for a couple of months. In fact we have been out in all weathers sourcing some fantastic stock for spring and summer which you will be able to see very soon at Station Mill and at our upcoming fairs. We’ve a great selection including lots of outdoors pieces, bits and bobs of furniture for indoors, wonderful paintings, a large pile of Welsh blankets and Scottish Comfys as well as some fabulous 50s textiles.

Recently too I was asked to find a large number of vintage mirrors for a renovation project of a flat near London’s Portobello Road so I have been amassing all different sizes and styles. It’s become a bit of an obsession and I will be sure to post the result when it’s completed.

Looking ahead we have added some new fairs this year which you will be able to see soon on our Fairs page. One in particular promises to be a great day out, it’s at Plumpton Racecourse in Sussex, and run by the lovely girls at Village Vintage, Lucy and Darcy. I will post more details nearer the time but do add it to your diaries for 31 May and 1 June.

In the meantime we’ll be at Kempton on March 12, hope to see some of you there!

December

Already we are feeling very Christmassy as so many of our neighbours have their trees and decorations up, there’s frost on the car in the morning and I’m busy thinking up ideas for vintage themed presents for family and friends.

Our next fair is the Homeworks Christmas Bazaar at Salusbury school farmers market, Queens Park, London NW6 on Sunday 9th December 10am- 2pm. www.thisishomeworks.blogspot.co.uk Pop buy and have a mince pie and see our lovely festive gifts as well as great ideas to cosy up your home for family and friends arriving. Snow is forecast so everyone seems to be clamouring for quilts and blankets, we have some beautiful eiderdowns in stock as you can see below.

Also if you are in Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire over the holidays please pop into Station Mill Antiques Centre www.stationmill.com as there’s a feast of antiques and vintage pieces there. I am upstairs, under the eaves on the right in stand 62.

Hoping to see you this month.  Love Dorothy x

November Fairs

A frosty start this morning made me realise that it’s not long until Christmas and time to start getting the house ready for family coming and the present list started. I always plan to buy for friends at the fairs and brocantes I go to during the year, but inevitably those treasures I put aside never seem to leave my own home! So the fairs I have coming up this month will be a great excuse to ferret around and see what I can find on other stalls. And both fairs will have plenty of gorgeous things on offer I know. The first is The Vintage Christmas Boutique at Woburn Abbey on Thursday 15th November 10am until 4pm. More details at www.vintagechristmasboutique.com

Then it’s Kensal Flea at the Paradise Pub on Chamberlayne Road on Saturday 24th November. Lorna and I will be in our usual spot in the dining room with lots of vintage present ideas for all the family. Details at www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=242695435748621

Hope you can manage along to both!

October news

It was great to see so many familar faces at the Vintage and Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury last weekend. It’s always such a gorgeous fair and again it was crammed full of beautiful textiles. As ever I was sorry to see some treasured pieces go, but know they will be appreciated in their new homes.

This month is a time of buying and preparing for our fairs in the lead up to Christmas, I’ll give details of the ones I’ll be selling at in November and December in the next few weeks. And remember if you haven’t visited Station Mill Antiques Centre www.stationmill.com in Chipping Norton, please give it a whirl, it does have a wonderful selection from traditional antique furniture to small vintage items. I am upstairs on the right, under the eaves, you’ll recognise my website address on my labels, or ask at the desk and they will direct you to my stand.

In the meantime, hope you are thinking ahead to visiting some of the lovely Christmas fairs coming up, looking forward to seeing some of you there.

September fairs

September sees us at three lovely fairs, on Saturday 15th at the very popular Kensal Flea at the Paradise pub in Kensal Green where I will be in the downstairs dining room, followed by Queens Park Day on Sunday 16th from midday where Lorna and I will be in our regular pitch, D4. You can’t miss us in the Park as we will be in our white gazebo with our black and white chequerboard flooring.

Then on Saturday 29th September I will be at the Vintage and Handmade Textile Fair in Chipping Sodbury www.vintageandhandmade.com where not only can you find the most fantastic selection of vintage fabric but you can also have delicious tea and cake in the tearoom. It really is worth a trip.

We have lots of very pretty things from France including pictures, enamelware, linens, glass and china. And, thinking ahead to colder nights, beautiful Welsh blankets and cosy eiderdowns.

Please stop by and say hello if you make it along to any of our fairs, we look forward to catching up with you again.

And, of course, if you are in the Chipping Norton area we have some great things for autumn in our stand at Station Mill www.stationmill.com so please do take a look, we’re upstairs on the right under the eaves.

Happy hunting,

Love Dorothy

August

August is a quiet month for fairs for us as we are busy buying for a number coming up in the autumn. First up in London are Kensal Flea on Saturday 15th and then Queens Park Day on Sunday 15th September.

Then we’re off to the wonderful Vintage and Handmade Textile Fair at Chipping Sodbury on Saturday 29th September which is always worth a trip. There are always some great stands there, I particulary love Donna Flower’s vintage fabrics, she always has such a wonderful stand there www.donnaflower.com

I’ll post some photos soon to let you have a flavour of the stock we will be taking to our fairs, but in the meantime here’s an adorable watercolour by the illustrator Phyllis Purser. It is so sweet I don’t think I am going to be able to part with it.

So for now, hope you are all having a good summer and finding lots of interesting vintage pieces wherever you are!

Some stylish things for Barnes Fair

Suddenly we are in June and I realise I haven’t posted for such a long time! We haven’t had any fairs on this month, but of course you can pop into Station Mill in Chipping Norton to see latest stock.

But if you are hoping to see us at a fair soon, then good news as we have Barnes Fair coming up, on Saturday 14th July. Lorna and I will be in our regular spot, 233, on Crocus Path, and you can spot us with our usual gazebo and checked flooring.

I have a buying trip to France before then so expect some lovely French linens, china, pretty vintage clothes and interesting bits for the home!

Hope to see some of you there. Love Dorothy

April

Just back from France where I found some lovely things which you will see if you are visiting Station Mill in Chipping Norton this month, or coming to the Vintage and Handmade Fair at Chipping Sodbury on Saturday May 26. Near our house in the Beaujolais, there are always some terrific brocantes to visit around Easter and it’s great to be able to head towards certain regular sellers who I know will have a good stash of things I want to buy. This year though a few of them were saying it’s getting harder to find things like pretty fabrics and old linens, but a few rummages did reveal some that weren’t too pricey! I also found some lovely bits of furniture and very beautiful paintings.  I’m also well stocked up with stone and cast iron urns of all shapes and sizes for the garden in the hope that we might be out there a lot in the coming months.  My only problem will be parting with them all.
