May news
We are just back from the US and returned with cases bursting with textiles, pictures and other cute bits and bobs. I love searching out typically American things, quilts of course but also china ‘head vases’ which were used by florists in the 1950s until the 1970s to hold flower arrangements. These lady’s heads are SO kitsch and getting harder to find so it’s always a great challenge to hunt them out.
I am also always on the look out for embroidered sampler mottos, evoking memories of my childhood as most homes in Scotland in those days seemed to have one on the wall.
I’ll be taking some of these treasures to the Vintage and Handmade Fair at Chipping Sodbury on Saturday May 31st, so please come along and savour them too! More details at www.vintageandhandmade.co.uk . Hope to see you there. Love Dorothy
